Why Amoeba Rock?

The Amoeba Rock came about as a sort of protest to a ride way south of Fort Collins. That ride featured a costly registration fee, with only a small percentage of the take going to charities. That ride had become quite crowded and busy. Residential subdivisions had sprung up where there once were ranchlands. It just wasn't fun anymore...

Eureka! We'll make our own ride in Fort Collins and have 100% of the registration fee go to a Charity! The choice of charities was an easy one.The Lance Armstrong Foundation helps to combat cancer through education, advocacy, public health and research programs. Your ride leader Jeff's mother died of cancer at the age of 52. this event is held to honor her memory and all the others who have been affected by cancer.

This ride has become known for its small personal feel... as well as an opportunity to drink good beer for a great cause! This year's ride is on Sunday May 3, 2009.
